IPO Code of Conduct

Nothing in the provisions of the Organization’s Code of Ethics shall derogate from or supersede any applicable law.

Organization Members

  1. Members shall refrain from any action that conflicts with the Organization’s values, objectives, and mission, as set forth in the Organization’s governing documents.
  2. Members shall act in accordance with all applicable laws and with the rules established in the Organization’s governing documents.
  3. Members shall treat one another fairly and in good faith and shall refrain from actions that are contrary to the law or to the spirit of the Organization.
  4. Whenever a member has a conflict of interest, the matter must be brought to the attention of the Executive Committee, and the member shall refrain from handling or participating in the matter.
  5. Members’ personal information shall not be used improperly, including for marketing, harmful, or other purposes that infringe upon privacy, except for uses approved by the Executive Committee and required for the performance of an organizational role.
  6. No information shall be disclosed if such disclosure could in any way infringe upon the privacy of an Organization member.
  7. Information from internal Executive Committee discussions shall not be disclosed, including information concerning matters under discussion, personal matters, or matters of organizational or public sensitivity.
  8. The Organization’s assets shall be used efficiently and appropriately to advance its objectives and goals, subject to all applicable laws and the provisions of this document.
  9. Members holding a position within the Organization shall refrain from any action that could be interpreted as discrimination or harassment.
  10. Members shall make every reasonable effort within the Organization to implement and promote adherence to this Code of Ethics.
  11. Members shall refrain from statements that may harm or demean the dignity of any person, including statements relating to personal or political opinions and positions, gender identity or orientation, physical disabilities, or similar personal characteristics.
  12. A respectful culture of discussion and communication shall be maintained. Guest speakers and Parliament members must be treated with respect even when their views differ or conflict with those of others, whether in spoken discussions, written communications, or electronic media.

Rules for Participation in Meetings of the Parliament Organization

Proper and respectful conduct at members’ meetings is of the utmost importance, both for registered members and for candidates interested in joining the Organization.

The Organization’s image and reputation are shaped, among other things, by these meetings, which can have a broad and lasting impact on the Organization’s ability to fulfill the mission and objectives for which it was established.

Meetings and Lectures – Participation Rules

  1. Members should arrive before the meeting begins in order to avoid disruptions after the program has started.
  2. Appropriate attire for meetings shall include a shirt and long pants. Tank tops and shorts are not permitted.
  3. Comfortable and accessible seating should be kept available for members with special needs.
  4. At the conclusion of the meeting, members should assist with general cleanup and organization of the hall as required.
  5. Members should not leave the hall before the meeting has concluded unless circumstances genuinely require them to do so.
  6. All instructions regarding bringing food and beverages into the hall must be followed.

  8. Permission to ask a question shall be granted by the meeting moderator.
  9. Questions should be brief and relevant to the matter being discussed, while respecting the opportunity of other members to ask questions.
  10. Members shall refrain from interrupting with questions.
  11. Members shall refrain from raising their voices or interrupting the speaker or other members during discussions.

Suggestions for improving meetings and innovative ideas are welcomed by the Parliament’s Executive Committee.

A member who has not paid membership dues shall pay, for each meeting attended, the participation fee established for guests.
